Europol: Fraudulent platform selling images of child sexual abuse dismantled
Europol reports the dismantling of a criminal platform involved in selling child sexual abuse images, leading to the identification of 440 clients.
Europol has announced the successful dismantling of a fraudulent platform known as 'Alice with Violence CP,' which was involved in the illegal sale of child sexual abuse images and other cybercrime services, including credit card data. The operation, named 'Alice,' targeted a 35-year-old Chinese man identified as the leader of the platform, who operated over 373,000 fraudulent websites. The platform scammed clients by accepting payments for illegal content that they ultimately did not receive.
The investigation revealed that approximately 10,000 individuals attempted to purchase illicit materials from the site, resulting in an estimated profit of around 345,000 euros for the suspect. So far, police have identified 440 users of the platform, and the investigation remains ongoing. This operation highlights the growing collaboration among international law enforcement agencies in dismantling these types of criminal networks, sending a clear message that online criminality will not go unpunished.
Europol's Director Catherine de Bolle emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating cybercrime, stating that offenders have no place to hide when law enforcement works hand in hand. The ongoing investigation aims not only to bring those responsible to justice but also to protect vulnerable victims by removing such platforms from the dark web. This proactive approach underscores the commitment of global authorities to counteract the exploitation of children online and ensure accountability among perpetrators.
