Air Force: In the multinational exercise 'Iniochos'
The multinational air exercise 'Iniochos 2026' concluded recently, showcasing the participation of several countries and a wide range of aircraft.
The multinational air exercise 'Iniochos 2026' was completed on Friday, having commenced on March 9th. The main host unit for the exercise was the Andravida Air Base, which served as the operational hub for all foreign mission fighter aircraft, while the Greek Air Force (PA) also operated a number of its fighters from the 116 Combat Wing. Participating countries included France with M-2000D fighters, Slovenia with PC-9 aircraft, and Albania with AS-532 helicopters. The Greek Air Force took part with all types of its fighter jets, helicopters, and transport aircraft, totaling 914 sorties executed across the Athens FIR.
During the exercise, ground forces, the Navy, and special operations units were involved, significantly contributing to the creation of complex and realistic scenarios. Additionally, Poland participated with Special Forces and observers, while Georgia, Serbia, and Croatia sent observer teams to the drill. The collaborative nature of this exercise enhances multi-national military readiness and fosters strong defense relationships among the participating nations, highlighting Greece's strategic role in regional defense cooperation and training.
