The Greek Air Force participated in the multinational exercise 'Orion 2026' in France with four Mirage 2000-5 aircraft.
From February 3 to February 16, 2026, the Hellenic Air Force took part in the multinational air exercise 'Orion 2026', deploying a squadron of four Mirage 2000-5 aircraft and personnel from the 331 Squadron, part of the 114 Combat Wing, which relocated to Mont de Marsan Air Base in France. The exercise encompassed a wide range of missions that addressed all aspects of air operations.
During the drill, the Hellenic Air Force engaged in missions conducted within simulated environments replicating modern and complex threats. The primary objective was to enhance operational readiness while fostering increased cooperation and interoperability among the participating nations. In addition to Greece and France, the exercise included aircraft from Germany with Tornados and Qatar with Rafales, creating a diverse coalition aimed at improving joint air operation capabilities.
This participation not only underscores Greece's commitment to international military cooperation but also reflects the strategic importance of joint exercises in ensuring regional security and operational preparedness in the face of evolving threats. As military alliances strengthen through such collaborative efforts, the exercise serves as a critical venue for honing skills and developing tactics that can be effectively utilized in real-world scenarios.
