Lycabettus: The maneuvers cost him a fine of 2,000 euros
A driver in Lycabettus was fined 2,000 euros for performing drifting maneuvers during a traffic enforcement operation in Athens.
A specialized traffic enforcement initiative was launched by the Attica Immediate Response Directorate in cooperation with the Traffic Directorate on Thursday night, aiming to prevent and address traffic violations in the Lycabettus hill area. As part of this operation, extensive vehicle inspections were carried out, resulting in 13 violations of the Greek Traffic Code, which included offenses such as driving without a license, failure to wear a seatbelt, and driving against the flow of traffic on one-way streets, among others. Additionally, three driver's licenses were confiscated during these checks.
During the enforcement operation, an individual was caught performing drifting maneuvers to display driving skills, which resulted in a hefty administrative fine of 2,000 euros. The Greek Police have indicated that similar traffic enforcement operations will continue with undiminished intensity, underscoring their commitment to maintaining safety on the roads and discouraging reckless driving behaviors in Athens.
This ongoing initiative reflects the authorities' proactive stance on traffic safety, particularly in popular areas like Lycabettus, where such reckless actions can pose significant dangers not only to the drivers but also to pedestrians and other road users. The imposition of severe fines is intended to deter such risky behavior and reinforce the importance of adhering to traffic regulations in urban environments.
