Laskaridis Shipping: Evaluation of the eSAILs® System in Its Fleet

Laskaridis Shipping has signed a joint development project agreement with bound4blue and Bureau Veritas to assess the integration of eSAILs® into its fleet.

Laskaridis Shipping, controlled by Pano Laskaridis, has entered into a joint development project agreement with bound4blue and Bureau Veritas. This initiative, signed on March 18 at the Laskaridis Shipping offices in Athens, aims to evaluate the incorporation of innovative suction sails that generate lift by channeling air over aerodynamically optimized surfaces. Suitable for both retrofits and new builds, these sails promise to enhance vessel efficiency and performance.

The collaborative effort is supported by OCEANKING, bringing together a technology innovator, a progressive ship owner, and a leading classification society. The joint project aims to establish a reliable, transparent, and technically documented process for assessing the integration of this technology into Laskaridis Shipping’s fleet. This advancement is not only significant for the company but also represents a broader trend in the maritime industry to improve sustainability and operational performance through innovative technologies.

The integration of such technologies could have substantial implications for shipping operations, potentially reducing fuel consumption and emissions. As the industry faces increasing pressure to adopt greener practices, Laskaridis Shipping's commitment to exploring efficient sailing solutions positions it at the forefront of this transformative wave, highlighting the importance of technological advancement in maritime operations.
