ECSA: Over 400 projects in the student project
The European Community Shipowners' Associations (ECSA) announced the conclusion of the submission period for the European Student Competition, receiving over 400 student projects envisioning the future of ships in 60 years.
The European Community Shipowners' Associations (ECSA) has reported the successful completion of the submission phase for its European Student Competition, which attracted an impressive collection of over 400 student projects. These projects allow students to creatively express their visions of what ships might look like in 60 years, showcasing their ideas and innovations in maritime technology. This initiative aims to engage young minds in the maritime industry and emphasize the importance of sustainable maritime transport.
The competition boasts a distinguished jury panel, including notable figures such as Apostolos Tzitzikostas, the European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, as well as Cyprus' Deputy Minister of Shipping, Marina Hadjimanoli. Also on the panel are Eliza Vozemberg, Chair of the European Parliamentβs Transport and Tourism Committee, Mikki Koskinen, the President of the ECSA, Rowan Van Schaeren, General Manager of the Antwerp Maritime Academy, and Alberto Maestrini, President of SEA Europe. This diverse jury is tasked with evaluating the numerous entries and selecting the most innovative and forward-thinking projects.
The selected projects will be showcased on April 29, 2026, in Cyprus, marking a significant event that highlights not only the students' creative proposals but also the future direction of the maritime industry. This competition is expected to inspire a new generation of maritime professionals and contribute to discussions on sustainability and innovation in shipping, underlining the importance of educational initiatives in shaping the industry's future.
