Frigidaire gas ovens recalled for ‘burn hazard’ after dozens of injuries
Health Canada has announced a recall of Frigidaire gas ovens due to a burn hazard linked to multiple injuries reported in Canada and the U.S.
Health Canada has issued a recall for several Frigidaire gas range ovens, citing concerns over a potential burn hazard that has resulted in numerous injuries in both Canada and the United States. The recall notice highlights that these ovens can experience a delayed ignition of the oven's bake burner, increasing the risk of burns for users. As the issue has been identified, it draws attention to the importance of product safety in household appliances.
As of March 11, reports indicate that three incidents have occurred in Canada, with one person sustaining injuries, while the United States has seen a total of 59 incidents leading to 30 injuries. This alarming data indicates that the problem is significant enough to warrant immediate action from both manufacturers and health authorities to ensure communal safety. The recall serves as a reminder for consumers to check the model and serial numbers of their appliances and report any incidents.
In total, approximately 5,318 units of the affected Frigidaire gas ovens were sold in Canada, alongside around 174,800 units in the U.S. These products were available for purchase between June 2025 and January 2026. The widespread nature of the recall across two countries calls for careful attention from consumers and could potentially lead to more stringent regulations surrounding manufacturing practices and product safety as this issue is evaluated.
