Tim Hortons recalls thousands of mugs that may burn you if filled with hot liquid

Tim Hortons has issued a recall for a specific model of mug due to burn hazards associated with hot liquids, following incidents reported to Health Canada.

Tim Hortons is recalling its Pink and White Colour Changing Donut Mug after Health Canada identified a significant safety concern regarding burn hazards. The mug, a 16oz white ceramic design featuring a doughnut motif, can crack or break when it contains hot liquids, which could lead to burns for users. The colorful design, which changes with temperature, has raised alarms, prompting the recall notice issued by Health Canada.

As of March 10, the company has acknowledged receiving 28 reports of such incidents and has confirmed at least one burn injury related to the use of the mug. The mug was available for purchase in Tim Hortons restaurants and online from January to February, highlighting a serious concern for consumer safety associated with this product. Health Canada is cautioning everyone who owns the mug to cease its use immediately to avoid potential injuries.

Customers affected by this recall are encouraged to return the mug to any Tim Hortons outlet for a full refund, a move aimed at mitigating the risks posed and ensuring customer welfare. The recall emphasizes the importance of monitoring product safety, particularly in items intended for serving hot beverages, to prevent further incidents from occurring.
