Fire hits annex of school in Caruaru, destroys judo room and suspends classes; VIDEO

A fire at the Professor Sinhazinha School in Caruaru, Brazil, destroyed the judo room, leading to the suspension of classes without any reported injuries.

In the early hours of Friday, a fire broke out at the annex of the Professor Sinhazinha School located in the Salgado neighborhood of Caruaru, Pernambuco, Brazil. The flames reportedly initiated from a local judo school and subsequently spread to a nearby thrift store. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in connection with the incident. Firefighters arrived promptly and managed to control the blaze, which lasted several hours into the morning.

Images captured during the fire depict the chaotic scene as fire engulfed parts of the school. The building, which houses the annex, is owned by the Monte Carmelo Church, and according to Pastor Paulo Jorge, efforts to extinguish the flames continued until early morning. Once under control, authorities cordoned off the affected areas to ensure safety. The judo room, vital for community activities, was significantly affected.

The incident has raised concerns regarding fire safety in schools and community centers, prompting discussions among local officials about necessary precautions to prevent future occurrences.
