The price of diesel fuel in Latvia has exceeded two euros per liter

The average price of diesel fuel in Latvia has surged to over two euros per liter, marking a significant increase compared to earlier this year.

In Latvia, the average price of diesel fuel has seen a striking increase, rising by 29.6% at 'Circle K Latvia' gas stations, from 1.554 euros per liter on February 27 to 2.014 euros. Concurrently, the price of 95-grade gasoline at the same stations also climbed by approximately 15.4%, from 1.554 euros to 1.794 euros over the same period. Similar trends are visible at 'Neste Latvia', where the average price of diesel has gone up by 33.4%, reaching 1.997 euros per liter, while 95-grade gasoline saw a 17.9% increase to 1.777 euros per liter.

The report highlights broader trends in fuel pricing in Latvia, with significant fluctuations reflecting not only market conditions but also potential impacts from global energy prices and local demand. The data from the State Revenue Service shows that in 2025, 'Neste Latvia' was the largest retailer in terms of fuel sold, with 'Circle K Latvia' as the second largest, which may hint at competitive dynamics in the market as prices rise.

These price increases can have widespread implications for consumers and businesses alike. As diesel and gasoline prices surge, the cost of transportation and goods may also escalate, prompting concerns for inflation and the cost of living in Latvia. The government and regulatory bodies may need to monitor and possibly intervene to mitigate the broader economic impacts of these rising fuel costs.
