President Lee Jae-myung has ordered the immediate mobilization of all available equipment and personnel to address the aftermath and rescue efforts following a factory fire in Daejeon.
On October 20, President Lee Jae-myung instructed immediate and comprehensive mobilization of all available resources to handle the rescue operations following a significant factory fire in Daejeon, located in the Daedeok District. In a statement shared on Facebook, President Lee emphasized that various ministry heads, including those from the Ministry of Public Administration and Security and the Ministry of Health and Welfare, are coordinating the response to the incident. The Prime Minister is also expected to arrive at the scene to assess the situation and establish additional measures.
The factory fire occurred at around 1:17 PM at a manufacturing plant for automotive parts, resulting in injuries to 55 workers, while 14 individuals remain unaccounted for. President Lee highlighted the critical importance of assessing the damage and implementing necessary support measures promptly. He also assured that there would be no negligence in ensuring the safety of rescue workers and personnel at the site to prevent secondary accidents.
In his statement, President Lee expressed his heartfelt wish for the swift confirmation of the safety of those who have lost contact due to the fire.
