In the last six months, 60% of residents have listened to the radio daily; the most listened to radio station is Latvijas Radio 2
A recent report reveals that 60% of Latvians aged 16 to 74 have been listening to the radio daily, with Latvijas Radio 2 being the most popular station.
In a recent analysis of radio listening habits in Latvia, it was found that approximately 60% of the population, around 892,200 individuals aged 16 to 74, tuned into the radio on a daily basis during the fall of 2025 and the winter of 2026. This statistic reflects a notable engagement with radio, as it represents a consistent interest in audio media among residents. The report highlights that beyond just daily listeners, 80.8% of the population engaged with radio at least once a week, equating to about 1.2 million people.
The data compiled by 'Fifty5blue' also indicates that listeners devoted an average of four hours and 18 minutes to radio each day, which marks an increase of 15 minutes compared to the previous year. This upward trend in listening time could suggest a rising preference for radio as a source of news, entertainment, and companionship in an age increasingly dominated by digital media. The variety in listening hours among different demographics illustrates that traditional radio still plays a significant role in media consumption in Latvia, particularly among the younger population.
In terms of station popularity, Latvijas Radio 2 leads the way as the most listened to station. Following it, Radio Skonto accounts for 13.2% of listening time, while Latvijas Radio 1 takes the third position with 8.6%. Other notable stations include Radio SWH, Radio Star FM, and several others that contribute to the vibrant radio landscape in Latvia, showing a healthy competition and diverse options for listeners. This trend may have implications for advertising strategies and programming choices within the industry, as stations strive to capture and retain a loyal listener base in an evolving media landscape.
