VIDEO: Italian Ski Jumper Fell Very Hard at the Vikersund Flying Hill

Italian ski jumper Andrea Campregher suffered a severe fall during training at the Vikersund World Cup event.

Andrea Campregher, a 24-year-old Italian ski jumper, experienced a significant fall while training for the World Cup event in Vikersund on Thursday. The incident occurred when Campregher lost control of his skis during the initial phase of his jump, leading to a dangerous crash. Compounding the accident was the fact that his skis did not detach from his boots upon hitting the ground, resulting in a slide down the hill.

Immediately after the fall, medical personnel provided first aid before transporting him to the hospital. Campregher, who had already retired from competitive ski jumping following last season, had been working with the Chinese national team. However, he had expressed a desire to return to competition for a specific event at the Vikersund World Cup, aiming to set a new record for Italy with the longest jump ever made by an Italian skier.

As reported by Iltalehti, Campregher’s intended goal for the Vikersund event was to achieve the longest flight in Italian history, a record currently held by Alex Insam, who jumped 234 meters in Planica last year. The men’s qualification for the Vikersund World Cup event is scheduled to begin today at 7 PM, with other competitors, including Artti Aigro, also set to participate in the event.
