The Estonian men's football team is set to compete in the FIFA Series tournament taking place in Rwanda, which will also include host nation Rwanda, Kenya, and Grenada. Head coach Jürgen Henn has unveiled the squad heading to Africa, which notably includes eight players making their international debuts. These debutants are Henri Perk, Kaur Kivila, Sander Tovstik, Mihhail Kolobov, Tanel Tammik, Kristofer Käit, Rommi Siht, and Mattias Männilaan, who will be looking to make a mark in their first international assignments.
Notably, due to health reasons, several usual squad members such as Karl Jakob Hein, Märten Kuusk, and others will not be joining this time. The tournament is scheduled to start on March 27, with Estonia facing Kenya at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. The match marks a significant opportunity for the Estonian side to showcase their talent and strategy in an international setting, especially with the inclusion of new players who will bring fresh energy to the team.
The tournament holds implications for the future of Estonian football, as the performance of these debutants may influence their selection in future competitions. Following the opening matches, the losers will have a chance to regroup and face each other on March 30, culminating in the final of the mini-tournament later that day. All match timings are according to Estonian time, and the outcomes will be pivotal for the team's morale and skill development.
