Freestyle skier Henry Sildaru finished 24th in the qualification round of the Big Air event at the World Cup in Tignes, failing to qualify for the finals.
Estonian freestyle skier Henry Sildaru competed in the Big Air qualification round at the World Cup event in Tignes but unfortunately did not qualify for the finals. Sildaru secured only 50 points on his first jump and was unable to improve on his second attempt, ultimately placing 24th in his group. The event was highly competitive, with only the top six athletes from each group advancing to the finals.
The best performance of the qualifying round came from reigning Olympic champion Tormod Frostad of Norway, who scored a remarkable 94.50 points to secure a place in the final. He was followed closely by fellow Norwegian Leo Landroe with 92.50 points and Canada's Noah Porter Maclennan who managed 90 points. The qualifying round was notably tough, with the last athlete to qualify, Canadian Dylan Deschamps, scoring 88.25 points, emphasizing the high caliber of the competitors present.
In a previous event on Thursday, Sildaru had shown strong potential by finishing third in the park riding finals, highlighting his capabilities as an athlete despite the disappointment in the Big Air qualification. Looking ahead, Sildaru may have opportunities to improve and gather valuable experience in upcoming competitions as he continues his freestyle skiing career.
