Olvi's Brewmaster Receives His Dream Tool in Iisalmi – the New Brewing Facility Cost 20 Million Euros
Olvi has completed a 20 million euro investment in its Iisalmi brewery, featuring a modern brewing facility that boosts production capacity by twenty percent.
Olvi has recently finished a significant investment of 20 million euros in its brewery located in Iisalmi, Finland. This modern brewing facility is set to enhance the production capacity by twenty percent, indicating a strategic move to ramp up output in response to fluctuating market demands. The new brews from this facility have already started appearing on store shelves, signaling a swift transition from the construction phase to operational status.
The previous brewing setup had been in place since 1989 and had reached the end of its lifespan, making this new investment a critical upgrade for the company. Tomi Vuorinen, the Production and Supply Chain Director at Olvi, explained that the new facility will improve reliability in supply, particularly during the summer months when demand can spike due to long heat waves. This underscores the importance of having a state-of-the-art facility to adapt to seasonal variations in consumer preferences.
For Silja Hylkinen, the brewmaster, the debut of the new brewing facility marks a career milestone, as brewing plants typically have lifespans of 30-40 years and are seldom replaced. She highlighted that the most significant upgrade in this new setup is the introduction of two mash kettles, facilitating traditional brewing methods that hadn’t been previously utilized. This not only enhances the brewery’s operational capabilities but also enriches the variety of products Olvi can offer, catering to a broader market audience.
