Jigawa varsity lecturer loses two children to fire outbreak

A lecturer in Jigawa has tragically lost two children in separate fire incidents in Dutse, with efforts to rescue them unfortunately failing.

Two heartbreaking fire incidents have occurred in Dutse, Jigawa State, resulting in the deaths of two young children belonging to Aminuddeen Abubakar, a lecturer at the Federal University of Dutse. The first incident transpired early Thursday morning at around 4:00 a.m. when a fire broke out in their residence at Layin Dabinai, rapidly consuming the rooms and leaving the children unable to escape. Emergency services, despite their promptness, were unable to control the blaze in time to rescue the victims, who were later confirmed dead at the scene.

The incidents were addressed by the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), ASC Badruddeen Tijjani, who conveyed the tragic news to the press. He expressed deep condolences from the NSCDC to the grieving family and emphasized the urgent need for fire safety awareness in the community to prevent future tragedies. This heartbreaking event not only underscores the risk of fire outbreaks in residential areas but also highlights the critical importance of preventive measures.
