Longtime 'Kauno autobusų' CEO M. Grigelis resigns
The CEO of 'Kauno autobusų', M. Grigelis, has resigned and will be replaced by Mindaugas Tarasevičius as the interim CEO starting March 24.
M. Grigelis, who has been the CEO of 'Kauno autobusų' intermittently since 2000, has announced his resignation. Under his leadership, significant changes have been made to public transport in Kaunas, including the merger of bus and trolleybus companies, modernization of the ticketing system, and the introduction of electronic ticketing and an app called 'Žiogas'. These innovations have contributed to making public transportation in Kaunas more efficient and passenger-friendly.
Although Grigelis did not respond to inquiries from journalists, a representative from 'Kauno autobusų' confirmed the resignation and announced that Mindaugas Tarasevičius, currently the head of marketing for the company, will take over as interim CEO. Tarasevičius's appointment is seen as a continuation of the company’s commitment to improving public transport despite the leadership change.
In a statement reflecting on his tenure, Grigelis expressed gratitude for his team and highlighted the successful collaborations and challenges they faced together. He noted that public transport in Kaunas is now more modern, convenient, and responsive to passenger needs, marking a significant achievement during his long career.
