Body found in suitcase: victim lived in the same residence as the dismembered gaucha in SC, police say
The body of Alberto Pereira de Araújo was found dismembered in a suitcase in Praia do Santinho, with police investigating a potential link to the murder of Luciani Aparecida Estivalet Freitas, who lived in the same residential complex.
Alberto Pereira de Araújo, a 29-year-old man, was discovered dismembered in a suitcase at Praia do Santinho, a tourist area in Florianópolis, at the end of 2025. According to police, he lived in the same housing complex as Luciani Aparecida Estivalet Freitas, who was murdered and dismembered earlier that month. The police are currently investigating whether there is a connection between the two grisly crimes.
Both victims had ties to the Ingleses neighborhood of Florianópolis, raising concerns about a potential serial crime pattern. Alberto hailed from Laranjal Paulista, São Paulo, a city also linked to Matheus Vinícius Silveira Leite, a 27-year-old individual implicated in the murder of Luciani. Matheus had previously worked as a security guard at a bakery and was sought by police for another murder, suggesting a troubling history.
The investigation focuses on uncovering possible relationships among the victims and suspects, especially given the timing and circumstances of the murders. The police's examination of similar crime methodologies underscores the need for public awareness and safety measures in the region, as fear and speculation grow among local residents about further violence.
