A man detained for violence resists police in Kalvarijos municipality

A man detained for domestic violence resisted arrest by police officers in Pasūduonio village, resulting in further legal action against him.

On Thursday evening at approximately 21:40, in the village of Pasūduonio, a man born in 1976, who was heavily intoxicated with a blood alcohol concentration of 2.76 promille, was arrested for domestic violence. During the arrest, he did not comply with lawful orders from the police and actively resisted a police officer from the Kalvarijos police station, who was born in 1995. Despite the altercation, the officer was able to continue their duty following the incident.

After the resistance, the accused perpetrator of domestic violence was placed in temporary detention facilities, and an investigation has begun regarding the resistance to police. In a related incident reported by the Marijampolė police, the same man was involved in a conflict with another intoxicated individual, also born in 1976, who had a blood alcohol level of 3.56 promille, indicating a pattern of violent behavior.

The situation emphasizes the ongoing issues of domestic violence in Lithuania and the challenges faced by law enforcement when dealing with intoxicated individuals. This incident is likely to prompt discussions about the need for stronger protective measures and support systems for victims of domestic violence, as well as the importance of police training in handling such complex cases effectively.
