Sejong University Music Department and Future Education Center Jointly Support 'Now Piano Research Association' Regular Concert Held
A regular concert for the 'Now Piano Research Association' supported by Sejong University will take place on March 22, featuring music by Mozart and Schumann.
Sejong University’s Music Department and Future Education Center are jointly sponsoring the 4th regular concert of the 'Now Piano Research Association' titled 'Dreaming: Expression' on March 22 at the Yeongsan Art Hall. The concert commemorates Mozart's 270th birthday and Schumann's 170th death anniversary by shedding light on the essential theme of 'Expression' through the works of these two iconic composers. The concert aims to explore the intersection of classical elegance and romantic sensitivity.
The first half of the concert opens with Mozart’s piano sonatas, progressing through a variety of formats including performances for two pianos and eight hands, showcasing the balance and beauty characteristic of the Classical period. Noteworthy pieces like the overture from 'The Marriage of Figaro' and the 'Jupiter Symphony' arranged for two pianos and eight hands will highlight diverse sounds and energy, reaching a climactic point during the performance.
The second half centers around Schumann’s works, delving into romantic sentiments and inner lyrical qualities. Notably, the piece 'Davidsbündlertänze Op. 6' will be shared among four pianists, further transitioning to piano duets and ensemble compositions that convey Schumann's poetic and psychological musical world. The culminating performance of 'Andante and Variations Op. 46' will reinforce the concert’s significance through rich soundscapes and delicate variations produced by two pianos, ultimately presenting a grand project featuring 19 professional pianists, including Sejong University's faculty and graduate instructors, showcasing the expanded possibilities of piano music across solo and ensemble formats.
