ANP calls for greater fuel supply from Petrobras, but sees no signs of product shortage

The ANP has urged Petrobras to increase fuel supply in Brazil while indicating there is no current shortage in the market.

The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) has called on Petrobras this Thursday (19) to enhance its fuel offerings in Brazil. Despite making this demand, the agency expressed that it has not identified any signs of fuel shortages within the sector. This call for action comes amidst concerns over the international market situation, prompting the ANP to take a proactive stance on maintaining supply stability.

In response to the current market environment, the ANP approved a series of measures aimed at strengthening the monitoring of the domestic gasoline and diesel markets. These measures are designed to intensify the monitoring of stocks and imports, as well as to prevent potential future disruption in the fuel supply chain. The agency's efforts underscore a commitment to ensuring that the Brazilian market remains stable amidst external pressures.

One specific action taken by the ANP includes sending a notification to Petrobras, mandating the immediate offering of fuel volumes related to auctioned diesel and pure gasoline that had been canceled previously for March 2026. Additionally, Petrobras has been instructed to provide detailed information about its anticipated imports, the products it plans to supply, their purchase and selling prices, and their points of internalization. These steps indicate the ANP's proactive approach to mitigate supply chain risks while ensuring that consumers are adequately served.
