Ad Minoliti highlights and revitalizes the exhibition for the 50th anniversary of the FEMSA collection in Monterrey

The exhibition, commissioned to Ad Minoliti for the 50th anniversary of the FEMSA collection, showcases a critical and collaborative approach to Latin American art.

Ad Minoliti's installation, part of the exhibition 'Constellations and Derivatives: Art from Latin America from the FEMSA Collection,' emphasizes a critical reinterpretation of one of the most significant Latin American art collections as it celebrates its 50th anniversary. This project was designed to engage with the community of a prominent local business in northern Mexico, fostering a spirit of collaboration and dialogue among artists and the public. The installation invites viewers to reconsider the narratives that shape the understanding of Latin American art.

The exhibition opened at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MARCO) in Monterrey and will run until August 9. It features an impressive collection of 174 works by 100 Latin American artists, incorporating five conceptual cores that propose dialogues based on constellations rather than linear pathways. This innovative approach aims to create new connections between 20th-century and contemporary art, as well as addressing colonial influences in the region's artistic history.

Beto Díaz Suárez, the curator of the exhibition, explains that the constellation model allows for a more pluralistic understanding of Latin American art history, suggesting that there is no single narrative. By showcasing diverse artistic voices and perspectives, the exhibition challenges traditional canon and encourages a richer dialogue about the evolution of art in Latin America, ultimately fostering greater appreciation for its complexity and diversity.
