Military Expert: Iranian Missiles Combine 5 Systems that Confounded Israeli Defenses

A military expert claims that the variety of Iranian missile systems has complicated Israeli defense capabilities due to their sophisticated technical designs.

Military expert Brigadier General Hassan Jouni has stated that the diversity of Iranian missile systems is the primary factor that has confused Israeli interception systems, rather than the strength of any individual missile or the size of the barrage. He emphasized that the technical complexity of these systems requires distinct strategies to confront each new wave of missile attacks, posing a significant challenge to defensive measures.

During his analysis, Jouni elaborated on the operational mechanisms of ballistic missiles, explaining the technological sequence that begins with the type of fuel used, followed by the guidance system, and culminating in the explosive warhead's mechanism upon entering the atmosphere. One notable advancement in Iranian missiles, as he pointed out, is the capability of the warhead to separate from the body of the missile close to the target. This advancement allows the warhead to follow its own independent guidance system, greatly enhancing its accuracy in hitting designated targets.

Jouni also compared solid and liquid fuel missiles, indicating that liquid fuel missiles allow for trajectory adjustments during flight, whereas solid fuel missiles are pre-programmed from the moment of launch without the possibility of modification. Despite this, solid fuel missiles deliver superior speed, which can be advantageous in strategic military applications. Overall, Jouni's insights shed light on the challenges that Israeli defenses face against the evolving landscape of Iranian missile technology.
