A new section of the Transnordestina duplication in Petrolina, Brazil, has been opened, improving traffic conditions in the region.

A newly completed section of the dualization of Avenida Transnordestina, also known as Perimetral, was inaugurated on Thursday, October 19, in Petrolina, a municipality in the Sertão region of Pernambuco, Brazil. This segment, which required an investment of R$ 36 million, encompasses over 2 kilometers of roadway, connecting the roundabouts of the Pedra Linda neighborhood to that of Cacheado. The road is now open to vehicle traffic, and additional works, including the installation of LED lighting and landscaping, are ongoing, with completion expected by May.

The municipality reports that this infrastructure improvement will significantly benefit local neighborhoods, including Jardim São Paulo, Alto do Cocar, Pedro Raimundo, Jardim Amazonas, João de Deus, Cacheado, Vale Dourado, and Pedra Linda. These enhancements aim to improve traffic flow and overall mobility in the area, addressing long-standing congestion issues. The project aligns with the government's commitment to modernizing transport infrastructure in the Sertão, and it is anticipated to have a positive impact on local commerce and accessibility.

Additionally, the local government emphasizes that the completion of this highway segment will facilitate safer transportation and ease of movement for residents. As these infrastructural improvements continue, it signifies a broader strategy to foster economic development in the Sertão region by enhancing connectivity and accessibility, which are crucial for the local communities' growth and development.
