Handball team received an important lesson before a crucial match
The Estonian handball team learned valuable lessons from two preparation matches against Great Britain ahead of an important European Championship qualifier.
The Estonian handball team is gearing up for a crucial European Championship qualifier by participating in two preparatory matches against Great Britain, where they secured significant victories. In the first match, Estonia defeated Great Britain convincingly with a 19-goal difference. However, the second match proved to be more challenging, with Estonia winning by a narrower margin of 32-25, highlighting the importance of focus and consistency in their gameplay.
Team captain Karl Roosna acknowledged the mixed performance in the second match, noting that their initial high spirits from the first game might have contributed to a lack of concentration. He pointed out that several simple shots were missed, which led to self-doubt among the players. This experience served as an important lesson for the team, emphasizing the need to remain mentally prepared from the outset of each match.
With their European Championship qualifier against Cyprus approaching, head coach Kaj Kekki underscored the significance of these preparation matches for the team's readiness. The matches against Great Britain not only provided vital practice but also helped identify areas for improvement, allowing the Estonian team to refine their tactics before entering the competitive qualifier next with the objective of advancing in the championship tournament.
