Body found in Salvador

A decomposed body was found in Salvador, possibly linked to a missing 14-year-old girl, Thamiris dos Santos Pereira.

On Thursday afternoon, a decomposed body was discovered in the Cassange neighborhood of Salvador. The local Civil Police are investigating the case to ascertain whether the remains belong to 14-year-old Thamiris dos Santos Pereira, who went missing in Lauro de Freitas, a neighboring area. Although a suspect has been apprehended, their identity has not been disclosed, and the investigation is ongoing.

Thamiris was last seen alive on Thursday, September 12, after leaving her school located in Itinga. During the investigation, her backpack was located; however, her cellphone was missing and is currently switched off. The police are diligently trying to piece together the events leading to her disappearance and the subsequent discovery of the body.

The body has been taken to the Medical Legal Institute (IML) for examination to confirm its identity. The Technical Police Department (DPT) has released a statement indicating that a formal identification will depend on the forensic processes being completed, which may require additional time before results are available. This tragic event has raised concerns within the community regarding the safety of adolescents in the area and the need for effective protective measures.
