Councilwoman Amanda Paschoal of the PSOL party in São Paulo has initiated a representation asking the Public Ministry to investigate potential irregularities concerning the free lease of the Interlagos racetrack for the Lollapalooza festival. The administration of Ricardo Nunes (MDB) allowed the use of the venue for three days without charging the festival organizers, North America's Rock World, in exchange for advertising their logo at various locations during the event, such as tents, stages, and LED towers. This marks a significant shift from the previous year when the city charged R$ 2.7 million for the same space.

Paschoal's concerns are rooted in the lack of a public bidding process or call for proposals for this arrangement. In her representation, she highlights that the management of Nunes has also made commitments to cover operational costs related to traffic and logistical support for the event. The implications of such a decision raise questions about transparency, accountability, and the appropriateness of governmental support for private events, particularly when sizable financial agreements were made in the past.

In response to the councilwoman's allegations, the city government stated that the lease agreement is grounded in the expectations of promoting local culture and tourism, suggesting that the benefits derived from hosting the festival outweigh the costs.
