The registration period for the 2026-2027 Participatory Budget has closed, with over 400 community organizations participating and more than 680 proposals submitted for community improvements.
The Participatory Budget Digital (OPA) for 2026-2027 is approaching its registration deadline, which is set for this Friday. Community organizations and associations are urged to finalize their registrations to submit proposals, with the potential for these ideas to be transformed into actual improvements within their communities. So far, over 400 entities have registered, and more than 680 proposals have been submitted, signaling a robust community engagement in the process.
Washington Bonfim, the Secretary of Planning, emphasized the critical nature of this moment for maximizing the program's impact. He noted that the participation of more entities can lead to increased resources directed towards community-selected projects. The OPA has been successfully implemented in various cities, including Teresina, Parnaíba, Picos, Piripiri, and Floriano, demonstrating its effectiveness and paving the way for further strengthening public engagement.
As the project moves into the next phase of technical feasibility analysis scheduled from March 23 to June 8, the focus will be on assessing the submitted proposals. This stage is crucial to ensure that the community’s requests are feasible and can be funded accordingly, reinforcing the importance of community participation in local governance and development decisions.
