A group of political prisoners released by the Minsk regime has arrived in Lithuania

Fifteen political prisoners released by the Belarusian regime arrived in Lithuania following negotiations between Minsk and Washington, and the Lithuanian government provided support for their arrival.

Following a meeting between Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and U.S. envoy John Coale, a group of political prisoners was released from Belarus, with 15 of them arriving in Lithuania. This release is part of a broader gesture, as a total of 250 political prisoners were freed during negotiations with Washington. The Lithuanian government has confirmed that there are no citizens among the released individuals and has assisted in facilitating their entry into the country.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that they provided support for the crossing of the border, ensuring a safe transition for the political prisoners from the border to their designated accommodations. Medical assistance is also available if needed upon their arrival. The cooperation highlights Lithuania's commitment to supporting human rights and providing refuge to those persecuted by authoritarian regimes.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, a prominent Belarusian opposition leader, expressed gratitude towards Lithuania for their assistance in this important humanitarian effort. During a press briefing in Vilnius before the prisoners' arrival, her advisor, Dzianis Kuchynski, applauded the support from various Lithuanian institutions, emphasizing the significance of their effort in facilitating the arrival and integration of these individuals into a safe environment.
