It is reported that newly released Belarusian political prisoners will be brought to Lithuania

Belarus is set to transfer recently released political prisoners to Lithuania following a meeting between a U.S. envoy and the Belarusian president.

Following a meeting in Minsk on Thursday between U.S. special envoy John Coale and President Alexander Lukashenko, it has been reported that a group of Belarusian political prisoners recently released by the Belarusian regime will be arriving in Lithuania. This release has occurred against the backdrop of growing diplomatic efforts by the United States in recent months, resulting in the release of dozens of political prisoners from Belarusian jails.

According to the Belarusian outlet Belsat and various human rights organizations, this particular group of political prisoners was freed on Thursday, and they are already en route to Lithuania, expected to arrive around 5 PM. While some of the released individuals will be coming to Lithuania, others are set to remain in Belarus, as stated by the group 'Pink Scarves,' which advocates for the rights of the repressed Belarusians.

Among the notable individuals being transferred to Lithuania are Belsat journalist Yekaterina Andreyeva, human rights defender Anastasija Loiko, and several other activists and bloggers. The list of those being brought over is not final and may be subject to updates as additional releases come to light, indicative of an ongoing situation regarding political repression in Belarus and international responses to these human rights issues.
