Police executes warrants in MA against group suspected of drug trafficking and money laundering operating in DF
The operation targets a criminal group believed to be involved in drug trafficking and money laundering activities in the Federal District and surrounding areas.
On Thursday morning, the Maranhão Civil Police (PC-MA), in operational support to the Civil Police of the Federal District, executed arrest warrants and search and seizure orders in São Luís and São José de Ribamar as part of 'Operation Resina Oculta'. This investigation focuses on a criminal organization suspected of being involved in a sophisticated drug trafficking and money laundering scheme that extends into the Federal District and nearby regions.
The operation resulted in one temporary arrest warrant and three search and seizure warrants being executed in Maranhão. The suspects in this case are believed to be part of a criminal organization responsible for supplying drug traffickers and moving millions of reais through shell companies and digital platforms. The coordination of drug repression from the PCDF highlighted that the group used fictitious companies to obscure their financial activities while engaging in illicit drug trade.
This joint operation is indicative of heightened law enforcement efforts to combat organized crime and its pervasive influence in both the Maranhão and Federal District areas. The endorsement of inter-departmental cooperation underscores the complexity of the issue, as authorities aim to dismantle networks that facilitate drug trafficking and contribute to the societal impacts associated with drug abuse and crime across these regions.
