Warning of daily fines for Norsk Tipping: – First time
Norway's Lottery Authority warns Norsk Tipping of daily fines if they do not rectify a gaming rule by June 15.
The Norwegian Lottery Authority, Lotteritilsynet, has issued a warning to Norsk Tipping concerning potential daily fines of 15,000 NOK. This warning is issued due to a failure to comply with regulations that require players to take a 15-minute break after one hour of continuous play in online casino games. The authority sees this measure as crucial in preventing problematic gambling behavior, which can escalate during high-paced gaming sessions.
Tore Bell, the department director at Lotteritilsynet, emphasized the importance of these mandatory breaks as a way to mitigate the risks associated with rapid gaming. He highlighted that the fast-paced nature of certain online games can lead players to lose track of time, hence the requirement for enforced pauses to cool down their gaming activity. The authority's decision reflects an increasing focus on responsible gambling practices in Norway.
An additional complicating factor has been introduced with the existence of bonus spins, which are rewards players receive during gameplay. These bonus rounds can often be utilized quickly, yet in some scenarios, they may extend the duration of play longer than intended. Norsk Tipping has been alerted to these issues, and the resolution of them is now critical in order to avoid the imposition of significant fines on the company.
