Ferrero, owner of Nutella, buys Brazilian Bold Snacks, maker of protein bars
Italian company Ferrero has announced the acquisition of Brazilian protein bar maker Bold Snacks, aiming to expand its health-focused product line.
Ferrero, the well-known Italian confectionery company, has taken a significant step in expanding its health-oriented product portfolio by acquiring Bold Snacks, a Brazilian company that specializes in protein bars. The news was shared on Wednesday, October 18, although the financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed. The completion of this acquisition is expected to occur within the coming months. Ferrero's move aligns with a broader trend in the food industry that increasingly emphasizes health and wellness products, particularly following the rise of dietary and weight management products in recent years.
The acquisition will not only allow Ferrero to enhance its product offerings in Brazil, but it will also see the company assume operations at Bold Snacks's office and factory located in Divinópolis, Minas Gerais. This strategic choice is expected to create approximately 300 new jobs, indicating Ferrero's commitment to investing in the local economy. Ferrero operates in Brazil through its subsidiary Dori Alimentos, which is part of the Ferrara Group and employs around 4,500 people across five factories and three offices, demonstrating the company's significant presence in the Brazilian market.
Founded in 1946 in Alba, Italy, Ferrero has grown to operate in over 170 countries and employs around 50,000 people globally. By incorporating Bold Snacks into its portfolio, Ferrero is positioning itself to cater to the growing consumer demand for healthier snack options, further cementing its status as a leader in the global confectionery industry while also responding to evolving market trends.
