Operation targets those involved in the death of a couple burned in Roraima
The Roraima Civil Police has launched an operation to apprehend suspects linked to the brutal murder of a couple found burned in their vehicle in December 2025.
In a significant law enforcement effort, the Roraima Civil Police initiated Operation Insídia on January 19, 2026, targeting individuals suspected of involvement in the tragic murder of business owner Edgar Silva Pereira, also known as 'Mãozinha', and his wife, Rossana de Lima e Silva. The couple, aged 60 and 49, respectively, was discovered carbonized inside their vehicle in Rorainópolis, prompting an extensive investigation following their disappearance on December 17, 2025. Authorities launched a coordinated strike with 17 search and seizure warrants executed in Boa Vista and other locations throughout the state.
The investigation unfolded swiftly after the couple went missing, with their bodies found the day after their disappearance, hidden in a completely burned truck. This horrific discovery galvanized the police into action, leading them to establish a dedicated task force under the Headquarters of Homicide Investigation (DGH) alongside the Special Action Group for Crime Combat. This collaboration is aimed at not only apprehending likely suspects but also attempting to unravel the circumstances surrounding this gruesome crime.
The implications of this operation extend beyond immediate justice, raising concerns about public safety in Roraima and the effectiveness of law enforcement in dealing with escalating violence. As the investigation progresses, the community watches closely, signaling a demand for accountability and a commitment to ensuring that such tragic incidents do not recur. The police's proactive approach is essential in restoring confidence among residents and addressing the broader implications of crime in the region.
