Ruter announces Easter changes in public transport
Ruter has announced changes to bus, tram, metro, and boat services during the Easter week, with some lines being canceled and others adjusted.
Ruter, the public transport authority in Oslo, Norway, has announced changes to its services during the upcoming Easter week. Starting from Monday, March 30, the metro and tram services will operate every 15 minutes across all lines, while bus services will experience reduced frequency, particularly during rush hours, with some lines completely suspended. Emilie Hesselberg, a press spokesperson for Ruter, stated that while there will be fewer bus departures for commuters, there will be additional services for those who are off work and wish to explore the city’s attractions.
The changes have been outlined in a recent press release from Ruter, highlighting specific bus lines that will be suspended over the Easter period. Among the affected routes are the 70E, 73X, 77X, along with several others, which will not operate during this time. This decision is likely aimed at adjusting to changing travel patterns during the holiday, where there are generally fewer people commuting to work, but an increase in leisure travel as residents take the opportunity to enjoy the holiday festivities in and around Oslo.
Additionally, the Easter season will see the initiation of boat services to Drøbak and Son as part of the spring season's offerings. Beginning on Friday, March 27, these services mark the seasonal opening of water transport options, providing residents and tourists with more ways to explore the scenic nearby areas during the holiday. Ruter's adjustments reflect their commitment to meeting the public’s needs and improving the overall travel experience in the capital city during this festive time.
