President of FM Radio Niigata Resigns Due to Harassment

The president of FM Radio Niigata has resigned due to harassment allegations, with details of the incidents remaining unpublicized to protect privacy.

FM Radio Niigata, located in Niigata City, announced on the 19th that its president, Miki Nakano, would resign from his positions as president and director effective the 31st due to harassment allegations. The company has chosen not to disclose further details of the incidents to protect personal privacy. The situation came to light after complaints were made regarding Nakano's conduct, leading to a Board of Directors decision to initiate an investigation by an external lawyer.

The investigation confirmed the allegations of harassment against Nakano, prompting the company to inform him of the findings earlier this month. Following this, Nakano expressed his intention to resign, and his resignation was formally accepted by FM Radio Niigata on the same day as the announcement. FM Radio Niigata has been broadcasting since 1987 and operates across the entire Niigata Prefecture, employing 23 staff members.

This incident sheds light on workplace conduct in Japanese media organizations and raises questions about accountability and the handling of harassment claims in smaller firms. The lack of detailed public disclosure also highlights the tensions between protecting individual privacy and the public's right to know about workplace misconduct.
