Enefit triples its energy storage portfolio
Enefit is expanding its energy storage portfolio by adding three new battery storage facilities alongside wind farms in Lithuania, increasing its capacity significantly.
Enefit, a company investing in energy solutions, is set to significantly enhance its energy storage capacity by establishing three new battery storage units next to its wind farms in Lithuania. The total capacity of these new storage facilities will be 46 megawatts (MW) and will store up to 184 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy. This expansion represents a strategic move to meet growing energy demands and enhance energy reliability in the region.
Once these projects are completed, Enefit's overall energy storage capacity will rise from the current 29 megawatts to an impressive 75 megawatts. This augmentation confirms Enefit's commitment to advancing its position within the Baltic energy storage market. By bolstering its infrastructure, the company aims to cater to an increasing need for energy storage solutions, especially as the region shifts towards renewable energy sources.
Moreover, the expansion of battery storage facilities is pivotal for integrating renewable energy into the grid, ensuring that energy produced from variable sources like wind can be efficiently utilized. Enefit's initiative not only reflects the growing investment in sustainable energy solutions but also positions the company as a key player in the transition towards a more resilient energy system in the Baltic states.
