Ministry Official Moves to Create Educational Peace at Valga Primary School

A ministry official has taken on the role of acting principal at Valga Primary School for three months to improve its educational environment impacted by negative issues.

Marjeta Venno, previously the head of the curriculum area at the Ministry of Education and Research, has assumed the role of acting director at Valga Primary School for a three-month period. Her goal is to transition from the negative perception the school has garnered in recent years, marked by high teacher turnover and administrative instability, towards what she calls educational peace. Venno's plans are grounded in a needs-based approach, identifying the necessity of strong teamwork and the preparation needed for the next academic year.

In her role, Venno aims to strengthen collaboration among the school staff and evaluate the educational support needed by students. The school has faced challenges, such as faculty departures and changes in leadership, which have contributed to a chaotic environment. Venno emphasizes the importance of stability and the development of supportive resources, including possibly fostering innovative solutions in partnership with vocational education centers to enhance learning outcomes.

When questioned about the possibility of continuing as principal beyond the initial three-month period, both Venno and Valga's mayor remained non-committal. This uncertainty highlights the ongoing challenges within the educational administration in Valga and the need for a comprehensive and sustainable approach to governance at the school level, which could ultimately define the future of educational practices in the region.
