Free program promotes trails through parks in São Paulo
São Paulo's Municipal Sports and Leisure Department offers free trekking opportunities in five municipal parks to encourage outdoor activities.
The Municipal Sports and Leisure Department of São Paulo is promoting free trekking activities in five different municipal parks as part of an initiative aimed at encouraging residents to explore the natural beauty of the Atlantic Forest. The program, called 'Vamos Trilhar' (Let's Trek), is especially useful for those new to hiking or those who can only dedicate limited time to outdoor activities. The trails are designed to cater to various skill levels and time commitments, making them accessible to a wider audience.
Among the parks participating in the program are Fazenda do Carmo, Cabeceiras do Aricanduva, Jaceguava, Itaim, Varginha, and Bororé. The most extended trail is located in Parque Itaim, covering three kilometers and focused on birdwatching, while the shortest is a 500-meter trail in Parque Jaceguava. Walks will begin at 9 AM and conclude around 11 AM, making them a convenient option for a morning getaway amidst nature.
This initiative highlights the growing interest in outdoor activities and aims to promote physical health, environmental awareness, and social interaction among participants. Set to officially start in 2024, the program exemplifies the city's commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities and fostering appreciation for local ecosystems through community engagement.
