Government suspends tolls at five toll plazas on the PA-150; see which stretches are affected
The government of Pará suspended toll charges at five plazas along the PA-150 due to inadequate maintenance by the responsible concessionaire.
The government of Pará has decided to suspend toll fees at five plazas on the PA-150 highway, effective from Thursday, the 19th. This decision came after technical inspections unveiled significant maintenance failures by the concessionaire in charge of the tolls. The affected areas include Plaza 1 between Nova Ipixuna and Jacundá, and Plazas 2, 3, 4, and 5 situated between Jacundá, Goianésia do Pará, and Tailândia.
Governor Helder Barbalho reported that numerous complaints about the poor road conditions, including potholes, prompted the inspection. The findings indicated a dire lack of maintenance, forcing the government to act in the interest of public safety and road usability. As a result, it was decided to halt toll collections until the maintenance issues are adequately addressed by the concessionaire.
Moving forward, the government has committed to conducting further inspections and indicated that the resumption of toll charges will depend on the correction of these maintenance deficiencies. This move emphasizes the government’s focus on ensuring that roads remain safe for travelers, as well as holding the responsible parties accountable for their obligations in maintaining infrastructure.
