The Cross River State government in Nigeria has engaged stakeholders across the state's three senatorial districts to draft a new trade policy. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Commerce, aims to capture the views of traders, producers, transporters, market leaders, business associations, and local government representatives, embodying a bottom-up approach to policy formulation. The engagement process emphasizes collaboration and inclusivity to ensure that the resulting trade policy adequately addresses the local economic landscape. At the final consultative meeting held in Ogoja for the Northern Senatorial District, Commissioner for Commerce Abigail Duke highlighted the 'People First' philosophy of the governor’s administration, aiming to implement policies that genuinely respond to the needs of citizens. By involving various stakeholders, the government hopes to create a trade framework that enhances economic activities and benefits the community as a whole.
