ULEAM will take over the management of Ciudad Alfaro: $2 million recovery plan
ULAEM has officially taken over management of Ciudad Alfaro with a plan to invest $2 million aimed at revitalizing the site with a focus on basic services, access, and cultural offerings.
The Laica Eloy Alfaro University of Manabí (ULEAM) has commenced management of the Ciudad Alfaro Civic Center in Montecristi, having received the complex under a loan agreement on March 19. ULEAM plans to invest approximately $2 million into the recovery and revitalization of the site, emphasizing improvements in basic services, access, and cultural amenities. This initiative aims to restore the relevance of a historical location in Manabí and make it accessible to the community.
On March 16, Rector Marcos Zambrano conducted a technical visit alongside authorities and specialized teams to assess the current condition of the infrastructure. The inspection revealed significant deterioration in certain areas that require prompt attention. This evaluation is crucial as ULEAM steps into its new role, ensuring that the necessary interventions can be prioritized in the recovery plan that follows.
Rector Zambrano highlighted the dual challenge and opportunity presented by managing Ciudad Alfaro, viewing it as a chance to invigorate a significant emblem of Manabí. The university's vision for the site is centered around cultural, educational, and tourist initiatives, with plans to involve the local community actively. The goal is to return Ciudad Alfaro to the citizens, enhancing their access to a space rich in potential for promoting culture and education while stimulating tourism.
