X Network of Musk Experiences Outage. Another This Year
Elon Musk's X social network faced an outage on Wednesday, marking one of several disruptions this year that affected thousands of users in the U.S. and hundreds in Czechia.
On Wednesday, the social network X, operated by billionaire Elon Musk, experienced a significant outage lasting approximately one hour, after which the issues largely subsided. According to reports from Downdetector, tens of thousands of users in the United States reported problems, while in Czechia, hundreds were affected. However, the total number of users experiencing issues may be higher than those reported, as not all users use this service to report outages.
This outage is just one of several that X has encountered this year, indicating a troubling trend for the platform since Musk acquired it in 2022 when it was still known as Twitter. Following Musk's ownership, X has undergone extensive changes, including a rebranding, mass layoffs of staff, and relaxed content regulation policies. Yet despite these changes, operational stability seems to be a continual struggle for the platform.
Last year, Musk announced that control of X had been taken over by his artificial intelligence start-up, xAI, which is known for developing the Grok chatbot, integrated within the X platform. This shift in control raises questions about the management and future direction of X, particularly as it grapples with ongoing reliability issues that directly impact user experience and overall trust in the service.
