Ecuador's national football team is conducting a training microcycle with 23 players ahead of the upcoming FIFA dates and international friendlies.
The Ecuadorian national football team is deepening its preparations for the 2026 World Cup with a selective microcycle taking place at the 'Casa de la Selección,' where 23 players have been summoned by the coaching staff, as reported by sports journalist Stalin Cobeña. This microcycle serves as a crucial evaluation phase leading into FIFA match days and international friendlies scheduled for March.
Among the notable players participating are seven from Independiente del Valle, including the Quintero brothers, Edwin and Holger, four from Emelec featuring Jhon Chica and Luis Fragozo, three from Aucas (Darío Torres, Javier Quiñonez, and Nicolás Sotomayor), alongside Jandry Gómez from Barcelona SC. This training period is significant for head coach Sebastián Beccacece, who aims to assess the performance and readiness of his selected players for the key competitions ahead.
In a prior press conference, Beccacece indicated that he has already defined a core group of 20 players, highlighting the importance of this microcycle in shaping the team dynamics. The outcomes of these training sessions will heavily influence the final squad selection for upcoming international matches, ultimately impacting Ecuador's chances as they prepare to compete on the world stage in 2026.
