City Hall of Campos sets up new delivery point for the Goitacá Card after confusion at the community event
The City Hall of Campos dos Goytacazes has established a new delivery point for the Goitacá Card to assist residents who were unable to collect the benefit during last week's community event.
In Campos dos Goytacazes, located in the North Fluminense region of Brazil, the city government has taken steps to aid residents following a chaotic event where many were unable to receive their Goitacá Card. This new delivery point was set up in response to complaints from locals who faced difficulties during the benefit distribution event held last week. Starting from today, and running until Thursday, the new collection point is situated at Praça da Igreja do Saco, allowing additional time for individuals to collect their cards.
The initiative comes as part of the municipal government's push to ensure that approximately 20,000 Goitacá Cards, which are vital for social assistance, reach the residents in need. Last week’s distribution event at the Vila Olímpica do Jardim Carioca attracted many residents eager to obtain their new cards. However, the overwhelming number of beneficiaries led to chaotic scenes, preventing some from receiving their cards. Provincial authorities have thus decided to extend the delivery service beyond the initial event.
After the initial delivery point closes, the collection of the Goitacá Card will continue at the headquarters of the Secretaria Municipal de Assistência Social until the end of the month. Beneficiaries are required to present personal identification and their old card to complete the process. This responsive measure illustrates the local government’s commitment to assisting its community, particularly in times of increased demand for social services.
