New bus line connects Guarus to Downtown after closure of Barcelos Martins Bridge
A new emergency bus line has been established in Campos dos Goytacazes to connect Guarus and the city center following the closure of the Barcelos Martins Bridge.
In Campos dos Goytacazes, Brazil, a new bus service started operating to mitigate the disruption caused by the closure of the Barcelos Martins Bridge, also known as the iron bridge. Published in the Official Gazette, this emergency circular bus line aims to improve transit between Guarus, a district of the city, and the center. The route initiates on Avenida Francisco Lamego near the closed bridge's head and navigates through several key avenues, eventually ending at Terminal Luiz Carlos Prestes in downtown Campos.
The newly established route travels via the Ponte da Lapa and includes stops at Avenida Rui Barbosa and Avenida Quinze de Novembro, facilitating a smoother transit connection for commuters in the region. On the return journey, buses will cross the Paraíba do Sul River using the General Dutra Bridge before heading back to Guarus. This service is set to operate from Monday to Friday across three shifts throughout the day, ensuring that residents have access to vital transport links despite the bridge's interdiction.
The operation of this bus line is managed by the Consórcio Planície, highlighting the local government's efforts to adapt public transport systems in response to infrastructure challenges. By providing a reliable alternative, city officials aim to reduce traffic congestion and improve accessibility until the Barcelos Martins Bridge can be reopened, thereby addressing community needs and enhancing daily commutes in Campos dos Goytacazes.
