Inmet issues two alerts for heavy rains for all of Paraíba
The National Institute of Meteorology in Brazil has issued yellow and orange alerts for heavy rains across the entire state of Paraíba.
On October 18, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) renewed a yellow alert for intense rainfall throughout the state of Paraíba, Brazil. This alert covers all 223 municipalities in the state and is valid until 11:59 PM on October 19. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for 81 municipalities, indicating an even higher risk due to expected heavy rainfall and strong winds.
The orange alert signifies a high degree of danger, predicting rainfall between 30 and 60 mm per hour or 50 to 100 mm per day, along with wind speeds ranging from 60 to 100 km/h. Such conditions pose a risk of power outages, falling tree branches, flooding, and lightning strikes. In contrast, the yellow alert indicates potential danger with expected rainfall between 20 and 30 mm per hour or up to 50 mm per day and wind speeds between 40 and 60 km/h.
