'We have enough petrol,' says Pakistan after Russian cheap oil offer

Pakistan has assured that it has sufficient petrol supplies despite a recent offer of cheaper crude oil from Russia amidst fluctuating global oil prices.

Amid ongoing tensions related to the Iran conflict and surging oil prices, Russia has extended an offer of cheaper crude oil to Pakistan, contingent upon Pakistan making a formal request for the supply. This offer came on a day when global oil markets remain volatile, raising concerns over fuel availability. Despite these challenges, Pakistani authorities have been proactive in managing the fuel supply within the country.

The Pakistani Finance Ministry stated that fuel supply in Pakistan remains stable, even amidst the varying conditions of global oil markets. In a recent post on social media platform X, the ministry highlighted the review of the current stock situation and supply forecasts during a daily meeting of the committee that monitors petrol prices. This committee, chaired by Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Aurangzeb, concluded that both petrol and diesel supplies are adequate and meeting national needs without interruption.

In addition, the ministry confirmed that the current diesel stock is sufficient to cover approximately 24 days of demand. Import levels are said to be appropriate, and refineries are operating at full capacity, which ensures a steady supply of fuel to meet consumer needs, effectively allaying fears of shortages and contributing to economic stability amidst external pressures.
