Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri's Statement on Gas and Oil in the Country
Hardeep Singh Puri reassures the Lok Sabha that there is no scarcity of crude oil, diesel, petrol, or gas cylinders in India.
In a recent statement to the Lok Sabha, India's Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri emphasized that the country has sufficient crude oil supplies and assured citizens that there is no scarcity of diesel, petrol, or gas cylinders. He highlighted that LNG cargo is arriving daily and the supply chain is being reinforced through alternate routes, ensuring that CNG supply remains at full capacity. The government is also sourcing fuel from Canada, Norway, and Russia while production of LPG has increased by 28%, reflecting the country's proactive measures in energy management.
Puri mentioned that alternative fuel channels have been activated to further bolster supply, and kerosene availability is being facilitated through retailers. A committee comprising three ministers has been established to monitor the situation closely and ensure that India is prepared to handle the current demand surge, which has been attributed to public panic. He categorized the country's gas management priorities, asserting that the government's strategies will maintain stability in fuel supply amidst any fluctuations.
During his speech, opposition members raised disruptions with chants targeting his association with Epstein, illustrating the contentious political atmosphere surrounding the discussion. The contrasting perceptions between the government and opposition indicate a turbulent political climate while addressing crucial issues like energy supply in India.
